October 21. Midnight sharp.
If you’re a Taylor Swift fan, you know what this means. If you’re not, basically, Taylor Swift’s 10th studio album Midnights is out on October 21. It tells the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout her life. As of writing this blog post, no lead single has been released and I have no idea what the album will sound like. Regardless, I already pre-ordered the vinyl, so… it better sound good!
Every time Taylor Swift releases a new album, she has a whole new aesthetic for that era. For ex., reputation era was all snakes, dark lipstick and dark clothing. Lover era was rainbows and butterflies. folklore and evermore were cottagecore vibes. The Midnights era looks like it’s all ’70s and vintage, which is my favourite!
Honestly, I’m loving all the old-timey aesthetics of this era and I’m absolutely loving all of her outfits this era. I decided to take some of my favourite outfits during this era (so far) and try to recreate them using pieces from sustainable brands. I used Remake and Good On You to help me find the brands since I’m still new to sustainable/ethical fashion. If you want the exact pieces Taylor’s wearing, check out this site.

It’s my birthday today! The only reason why I’m making this post is because my birthday falls on a Tues(two’s)day on 02/22/2022. I honestly just wanna commemorate it because of the date! But I guess I’ll take this time to reflect on my recent shopping habits and highlight one of my favourite jewelry stores.

Oops, I did it again. I bought a brand-new denim jacket. Did I need it? Probably not. Was it 70% off? Hell yeah. You know, I recently decided to push sustainable/ethical fashion on this blog. And what did I do? I bought something brand-new.
But I feel like it’s important to show you the process of adjusting from buying fast fashion to slow fashion. For me at least, the transition isn’t that smooth, especially since it’s hard for me to shop at thrift stores now with the whole pandemic. But, this topic is for another post. Right now, let’s talk about how to style a cropped denim jacket.

Perhaps some of the most coveted items for fashion lovers and collectors are vintage Levi’s. I myself have tried to get in on the action by scouring thrift stores for old Levi’s jeans, but they are hard to find. At least, in my area, either people are not donating them, or they get snatched up right away. The only pair of Levi’s jeans that I found at the thrift store that I would say is vintage was not my size, so I bought it for my mom instead. There’s a whole method of determining whether a pair of Levi’s jeans or jacket is vintage, but I’ll save that for another post.

It’s summertime! My favourite season. I love the heat. Anything above 25 degrees Celsius is ideal for me. I always tell people hot weather is being in a warm hug all the time. Doesn’t that sound nice?
Anyways, summer also means beach weather. If beaches are slowly opening up in your country, then it’s the perfect time to head to the beach! (While being safe, of course!). There’s nothing better than just relaxing by the water and leaving all your worries and stress behind. For many, it’s also a way to show off their stylish swimsuits or breezy summer dresses.
I’ve compiled a list of five brands that sell sustainable and ethical swimsuits, beach accessories, and summer dresses.

The first step to buying eco-friendly clothing is knowing what the fabric is made out of. If you want to start buying eco-friendly or sustainable clothes, it might help to know more about which fabrics are considered good for the environment and which ones are not.
For example, synthetic fibres like polyester and nylon are non-biodegradable and produces a ton of greenhouse gas emissions.
I know I had to educate myself on these things because I made a lot of assumptions as to what could be considered eco-friendly, but they ended up not being so great. Now that I’m aware of these things, I can make more informed choices the next time I go shopping.
Here are some eco-friendly fabrics to consider if you want to shop sustainably.

I started this blog about six years ago because I love fashion. But over the years, I grew disillusioned with the industry. I wasn’t sure I wanted to talk about fashion because I didn’t feel like it was making a difference or didn’t educate people on anything “important.” And after I watched The True Cost documentary a couple of years ago, it completely changed my view of the industry. I lost the motivation to write about fashion and keep up with the latest trends.

Who knew mom’s old clothes would be so cool?
According to the fashion industry, stealing your mom’s pair of ’80s or ’90s jeans are the “in” thing to do right now. Or, if your mom has gotten rid of her “mom jeans,” going to the thrift store to buy someone else’s mom’s old jeans is also a thing you can do. So I did just that. I asked my mom for her old ’80s jeans. It’s a little loose on the waist, but overall, it gives that desired “vintage” mom jeans look.
I find it pretty hilarious that mom jeans have been on trend for years because I’ve seen photos of my mom in her old jeans and … they’re not the prettiest sight. (Cue SNL‘s “Mom Jeans” skit). But of course everything in fashion comes down to styling. If you style your mom jeans in a more modern or vintage-inspired look, you can avoid appearing frumpy.

It’s my second Booklook post! I decided maybe I’d pair these with reviews of the books I’m highlighting. I don’t know yet. We’ll see. I don’t want this blog to be solely books. I still want to add in some fashion. But I’m indecisive. So I guess it’ll be a surprise.
Anyways, if you haven’t read my previous Booklook post, this series is basically me drawing fashion and style inspirations from the books I’ve read. I’ll usually take the inspiration from the setting, the character description (sometimes their outfits are described) or both.

I love fashion (as if you didn’t already know), but I also love books. Perhaps just as much, if not more. I love reading and getting lost in a book and being invested in the characters’ lives, journey and adventure.
So I decided to start this new series on my blog called Booklook where I draw inspiration for outfits from the books I’ve read. I want to do reviews sometime soon, too.
Anyways, I decided to start off this series with an outfit inspiration from Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
