MY FAVOURITE FREE SELF-CARE AND WELLNESS APPS

MY FAVOURITE FREE SELF-CARE AND WELLNESS APPS

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year?

I usually don’t, but I decided to this year because I feel like I haven’t done anything since the pandemic started. One of my resolutions was to do more self-care, whether it’s meditation, journaling, reading, or whatever.

I’ve always been an anxious person, so I’ve tried many of these apps before. But lately, I’ve been using them more because I recently had terrible anxiety. I’m feeling much better now, and I don’t know if it’s because of the apps or just enough time has passed, or maybe both.

A primary concern about these self-care/wellness apps is privacy issues. So whenever I use these apps, I don’t put any personal and sensitive details. I write about my mood or anxiety and write vague descriptions that are not too personal and that I would feel comfortable telling other people.

Another thing to note is that I’m basing these reviews/recommendations on the free versions. I know not everyone can afford to pay for apps (same here), and I get frustrated when I see reviews of apps on the paid versions only. I usually don’t know what I can or can’t access before downloading an app. And when I would download it, I would be disappointed by the lack of features on the paid versions. This post will only talk about my experience with the free versions.

If you’re going through anxiety, stress or want to practice self-care, these are the free apps that I recommend.

TOP FIVE BOOKS I READ IN 2018 SO FAR

TOP FIVE BOOKS I READ IN 2018 SO FAR

So it’s more than halfway through 2018 and I have read 59 books so far. Woot, woot. I’ve already reached by goal of 52 books (*pats self on the back*), so I upped the challenged to 80 books. I think I’ll be able to handle that. I mean, if I wanted to be ambitious, I would have set my goal to 100 books, but the inner lazy reader in me was protesting.

Anywho, I wanted to quickly discuss some of my favourite books so far (and series, hehe. Yeah, it’s technically more than one book, but it’s my blog and I can do what I want to!).

Without further ado, here’s my favourites in descending order.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR A DAY AT PARIS LAS VEGAS

WHAT TO WEAR FOR A DAY AT PARIS LAS VEGAS

Las Vegas. The ultimate destination for fun, games and relaxing with friends. Once there, there’s so many options for places to eat, shows to see and casinos to peruse.

I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned it on my blog before, but I have this weird obsession with France, particularly Paris. I travelled there seven years ago and I wasn’t obsessed with it as I am now. I just love everything about it, from the architecture, the food, and of course the fashion!

There’s books and blog posts focused on achieving that French girl fashion look, that sense of “je n’ai se quoi.” From what I’ve read and seen, French style is more simple and classic. They focus on quality, classic pieces that will never go out of style. They wear mostly neutral colors and very little make-up. Now that’s my style! I think I identify with Parisian style so much because it’s exactly how I dress. My closet is filled with neutrals, I always go for classic clothing and keep everything simple and minimal.

DISCOVERING YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

DISCOVERING YOUR PERSONAL STYLE

Discovering your personal style can be a difficult process. It involves having a deep understanding of your sense of self (that’s my Psych major talking right there..), a great confidence in your own skin and knowing what works and doesn’t work for your body type.

Many people say that fashion is an extension of yourself, an outlet through which you can express your creativity and personality. I agree. We are drawn to specific garments, styles and colours because we are attracted to, and feel comfortable, in them. We choose them because they fit our tastes, likes and visual aesthetic.

After following fashion blogs for years, I quickly noticed how they had their own unique style. Then I started thinking about myself and how I didn’t think I had a personal style.
